“Working with Alex was a pleasure, he helped us get to the heart of the story and craft an edit with efficiency and valuable creative input”

Nick Holt – Director & BAFTA Award Winner

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Alex is that rare breed of editor – the kind that sees his technical skills (of which he has in abundance) as a means to tell a story, not the sum total of his contribution. Meaning, he possesses a maturity in creativity that seeks elegance without showing-off. His understanding of visual grammar is instinctive and his empathy for the story at the heart of any material is intuitive. He’s meticulous, passionate and imaginative. His understanding of rhythm and pace works in harmony with his gutsy connection with music – seeing and hearing the poetry of moments as they unfold. At the core of his talent is his ability to forge clarity in any job. Quite simply – Alex cares about what he does, because he’s a very fine man indeed, and… he’s a damn good laugh too.”

Grant Fulton – Writer/Creative Director (Comedian)

I’m a London native and received a BA (Hons) from the University of Leeds in English and Theatre Studies and hold a PG Diploma in ‘Experimental Film & Video Production’ and a Masters in ‘Film Production,’ both awarded Distinction. I’ve been editing for over twenty years, having started life directing music videos for labels like Sony, Independiente, Mute, and making my own experimental work.

I love editing and I’m passionate about Cinema and the ‘moving image’ in general. From the early surrealism and in-camera tricks of Buster Keaton to video artists like Bill Viola and Doug Foster. From silent movies to IMAX, commercials, music videos, TV and social media. High concept and low; all have informed my interest and desire to learn how moving images and sound work to tell a good story dramatically and how empathy with characters and subjects can bring a story to life.

Many of the short films and programmes I have collaborated on have been awarded at festivals around the world including Best Editing for the short film “Shakes” at the Monza Short Film Festival. Most recently ‘The Mandela Project’, was nominated for an EMMY Award. Additional awards include, British Short Film Festival ‘Best Experimental Short’, BFI Script Development Grant for “Filament” and grants from Arts Council England.

I’m also very proud to be a member of BAFTA Connect, a unique community who champion creativity and share the vision of a more inclusive and sustainable industry.
